Swiss Consumer Climate Index is calculated based on a quarterly telephone survey of about 1,100 households; it reflects consumers' opinion about economic conditions and their medium-term expectations. The survey contains eleven questions about current and expected consumer spendings, estimation of the general financial and economic situation, employment, the possibility of making savings in the coming year, etc.
Thus, the index is a composite estimate of national households' confidence and expectations. Index values above zero indicate an increase in consumer confidence and values below zero point to a decrease.
The growth of the Consumer Climate Index can affect the Swiss franc positively.
