China Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is calculated by state statistics bodies. The calculation is based on a monthly survey of purchasing managers from 3000 Chinese manufacturing companies.
The questionnaire includes questions about the following business condition aspects in the past month: production, new orders, inventories, purchases, imports, input and output prices, employment, supplier deliveries, expectations for production and business activity for the next 6 months.
Readings above 50 point to a general growth of manufacturing business activity, and readings below 50 indicate a decline. Growth of manufacturing PMI may affect yuan quotes positively.
