Australia Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows a change in the prices for goods and services from the consumer perspective in the reported quarter compared to the prices in 1948. The index evaluates a basket of 11 groups of goods and services, which account for a larger share of household expenditures.

The indicator is less important in assessing inflation and consumer sentiment, than comparative CPI indexes.
