The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is the central bank of Switzerland - the body responsible for the Swiss monetary policy. It has two head offices, one is in Bern and the other one in Zurich.

Since the establishment of the Swiss National Bank in 1907, it has had a strong impact on economic policy in Switzerland. The bank is obliged by the Constitution and by statute to act in accordance with the interests of the country as a whole.

As said on the bank's website, its primary goal is to ensure price stability, while taking due account of economic developments. In so doing, it creates an appropriate environment for economic growth.

The SNB is a public company under special regulations. About 55% of its shares are owned by public institutions. The remaining shares are traded on the stock market.
